Aaron Anselmino confirms ‘dream’ Chelsea transfer is imminent

Aaron Anselmino has expressed his excitement about his imminent move to Chelsea, calling it a “dream” come true. The 19-year-old defender is set to undergo a medical in London ahead of his £17 million transfer from Boca Juniors to Stamford Bridge. Following the move, Anselmino is expected to be loaned back to Boca Juniors for the upcoming season to continue his development.

Chelsea’s management sees Anselmino as a promising talent with the potential to break into their first team in the future. The club has agreed on a long-term contract with the Argentine defender, who made his first-team debut for Boca Juniors in June 2023.

In an interview with ESPN before his flight to London, Anselmino shared his excitement: “I’m very happy, everything happened very quickly. Since I was a little boy, I dreamed of this. Every footballer dreams of this opportunity, I’m very happy.”

Under the ownership of Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital, Chelsea has been actively signing young talents from South America. Recent acquisitions include Kendry Paez, Andrey Santos, Deivid Washington, and Angelo Gabriel. Estevao Willian, a highly-rated Brazilian talent, is also set to join the squad next summer following his £29.5 million move from Palmeiras.

Additionally, Chelsea has scheduled a medical for Villarreal goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen, who is set to join the club for £20.7 million.

With these strategic signings, Chelsea continues to strengthen its squad with young talents, aiming to secure a bright future for the club.
