Youngster ‘taken over’ by Manchester City owners CFG – Travels to England for medical, to sign long-term contract

Last month, Manchester City finalized the signing of Savinho from Troyes, marking their only significant acquisition in the summer transfer window so far. The move was facilitated by the City Football Group (CFG), which owns Manchester City as well as several other clubs worldwide, including Troyes. This ownership structure likely streamlined the process of bringing the 20-year-old winger to the Premier League champions.

Now, Manchester City’s ownership group is turning its attention to another young talent, Jason van Duiven from PSV Eindhoven, according to reports from De Telegraaf. The 19-year-old, who developed through PSV’s academy, has yet to make his debut for the first team. Last season, he was loaned to Almere City, where he made 14 appearances but failed to score or assist.

Despite these modest stats, the CFG sees potential in the Netherlands U19 international and is reportedly close to securing his transfer for around €3 million. Van Duiven is said to have traveled to England to undergo medical tests, and a long-term contract is expected to be offered.

The CFG plans to send Van Duiven to SK Lommel, a Belgian club also owned by the group, to further his development. It remains unclear whether Van Duiven will initially sign with Manchester City before being loaned out to Lommel or if he will join the Belgian club directly through a permanent transfer. This detail is expected to be clarified in the coming hours.

This approach reflects CFG’s strategy of nurturing young talent across its global network of clubs, providing players with the experience and opportunities they need to potentially contribute to Manchester City in the future.
