As reported by Express, Liverpool are interested in signing Newcastle United winger, Anthony Gordon. The 23-year-old has been very impressive during his debut season with the Magpies. Gordon also played for the Reds’ youth Academy before leaving for Everton back in 2012.
This season the 23-year-old has made 47 appearances across all competitions, recording 11 goals and 11 assists. Gordon is developing well and with his recent form in mind, it’s safe to say the 23-year-old has a bright future ahead of him.
The fans at Newcastle love the English winger and he has even been proclaimed as the Magpies’ best player this season. So, it’ll be difficult for the Reds to force Newcastle to sell Gordon until they make a worthy offer.
It is being reported that Liverpool could make a club record £100m move for the 23-year-old. However, such a big decision will likely not be taken until the season is over and Arne Slot is comfortably in place as the next man to lead the Reds.
Signing Gordon would be the perfect way to start the post-Jurgen Klopp era at Liverpool. Newcastle are also at risk of breaching FPP regulation, so it might not even take a record-breaking bid to lure the 23-year-old over to Anfield.
While it can’t be said for sure that the Reds will be moving on Gordon this summer, it is at least clear that the club rates the player very highly and considers him a target for the time being.
